How we ended up doing this

Most independent garages run a mile from a full engine rebuild. The job's hard to schedule (a single engine can tie up a bay for a week), it needs specialist tools, and it relies on knowing the right machinist for the block work and head skim. Most workshops would rather sell you ten oil services than one cambelt, let alone a long block.

We went the other way. Diesel Automotive started in 2019 with a focus on what other garages were sending elsewhere — diesel engine reconditioning, complex injection work, the kind of repairs that need patience and the right kit. That's still the core of what we do, and it's still why local mechanics send us their tougher jobs.

But we're not only an engine shop. The same workshop that rebuilds engines also does cambelts, clutches, DPFs, head gaskets, brakes, suspension, full servicing, and diagnostic work — for diesel and petrol, cars and vans. If it's mechanical and you can drive it onto our forecourt, we'll work on it.

How we run a garage

Written consent before we touch a spanner

Every job starts with a written quote. We don't begin work until you've approved it. If something changes mid-job, we stop, call you, and explain before going further.

Photos and video at every stage

You'll see what's actually wrong. You'll see the parts we replace. You'll see the work being done. This isn't an extra service — it's how we run every job.

Real diagnosis before quoting

A misdiagnosed problem is an expensive problem. We'd rather charge £59 for a proper diagnostic and tell you the truth than guess at the cause and bill you for the wrong fix.

12-month parts warranty as standard

On everything except engine reconditioning, which carries a 6-month parts and labour warranty (industry standard for engine work).

The workshop

We operate out of a five-bay workshop on the Imex Industrial Estate in Oldbury, B69 3EX. The workshop has full diagnostic equipment for all major manufacturer protocols, established machining contacts for engine work, and a stock of common parts for fast turnaround.

Every technician on the floor is Level 3 qualified in light vehicle maintenance. We're VAT-registered and operate as a limited company.
