Blocked DPF? Limp mode? Engine management light on? We diagnose first, clean second, replace only if we have to. From £79 for a forced regen, £149 for an off-car clean.
A blocked DPF is usually a symptom, not the cause. EGR faults, sensor failures, injector problems, broken differential pressure pipes, or a driving pattern that never lets the DPF regenerate properly — any of these can clog up a DPF faster than it should.
If we clean a DPF without finding the underlying cause, you'll be back in three months with the same problem. So we diagnose first. The diagnostic is £59 and comes off the bill if you proceed with the work.
DPF faults are particularly common on diesel vans, motorhomes and campervans that sit unused for long periods or do mostly short journeys. We only carry out legal emissions diagnosis, cleaning and repair routes — no DPF deletes. See our Vans & Commercial Vehicles and Motorhomes & Campervans pages for what's covered.
Independent DPF specialist work across the brands we see most often — Audi DPF specialist, BMW DPF specialist, Mercedes DPF specialist, Range Rover DPF specialist, VW DPF specialist, Van DPF specialist and Motorhome DPF specialist. We only carry out legal emissions diagnosis, cleaning and repairs. No DPF deletes.
When: DPF is partially blocked but not damaged.
How: We connect to the ECU and force a high-temperature regen. Takes 30–90 minutes.
Catch: only works if there's no deeper problem.
When: DPF is heavily blocked or full of ash.
How: We remove the DPF, clean it thoroughly, refit with new clamps and gaskets.
Usually same day or next day.
When: DPF is physically damaged or beyond cleaning.
How: New OE or quality aftermarket DPF, fitted, ECU reset, regen verified.
Last resort — most "finished" DPFs can actually be cleaned.
One thing we don't do — DPF removal.
Driving without a DPF is illegal under the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 (regulation 61a) and an automatic MOT failure since February 2014. It also voids your insurance and tanks your car's resale value. If a competitor offers DPF removal, that's their problem — we won't risk your MOT or our reputation.
Common signs: engine management light on, DPF warning light, loss of power (limp mode), fuel economy dropping, repeated regen cycles, smoke. A diagnostic scan will confirm — we read soot load percentage, ash mass, differential pressure and any fault codes. The diagnostic tells us whether it's a DPF problem or something else dressed up as one.
Usually same day or next day depending on scheduling. We'll confirm when you book.
That depends on you, not us. If the underlying cause was driving pattern (lots of short journeys) and nothing changes, you'll be back in 12–18 months. If we've also fixed an EGR or sensor fault, a properly cleaned DPF should serve another 50,000–80,000 miles.
No. A regen is the engine doing it itself (or being forced by software). A clean is the DPF coming off the car and being physically cleaned. Different jobs.
Usually one of: short journeys that never let it regen, a faulty EGR valve dumping too much soot, leaky injectors over-fuelling, or a broken differential pressure sensor lying to the ECU. We diagnose all of these.
Send your reg and symptoms. We'll diagnose properly and quote in writing.
