Most "my turbo's gone" stories turn out to be something cheaper. Diagnose first. If the turbo really is finished, here's what 2026 prices look like in our workshop.

Reconditioned OE-quality turbos come with a 12-month parts warranty. New OE turbos have manufacturer warranty.
Engine bay access. A 1.6 TDCi Ford is much faster to do than a 3.0 TDI V6 buried under the intake.
Brand of replacement. OE-quality recon, OEM-equivalent or genuine new — three different price points.
Related work. Turbos that fail catastrophically can dump debris into the intercooler or oil into the intake. Cleaning or replacing those parts adds to the bill — but it's necessary to stop the new turbo failing the same way.
Oil feed and return pipes. We always replace the banjo bolts and inspect the oil supply when fitting a new turbo. Crud in the oil feed kills new turbos quickly.
