Service and MOT in one visit: why it's worth it

Updated April 2026 · Diesel Automotive workshop notes

Most drivers do their service and their MOT separately. Two trips, two arrangements, two days off. Here's why combining them is almost always a better idea.

One visit instead of two

Drop the car off once. We carry out the service, then take the car to our DVSA-licensed partner station for the MOT, then bring it back. You collect at the end of the day with both done.

Find faults before they become failures

A service inspection finds many of the things that would otherwise show up as MOT advisories or failures — worn brake pads, perished bushes, leaking shocks, corroded brake hoses. Fix them during the service, and the MOT becomes a clean pass. No second appointment to get the work done.

Cheaper than booking separately

What about the MOT itself?

Diesel Automotive is not a DVSA MOT testing station — we're a specialist diesel workshop. MOTs are arranged through a trusted local DVSA-licensed partner station. Drop the car here, we take it for the test, back the same day. The MOT certificate is issued by the partner station and recorded on the official DVSA database.

What if my car fails?

You'll get the formal failure notice from the partner station. We explain what's needed and quote in writing. Many failures are minor — bulbs, wipers, suspension parts — and we keep the common parts in stock so we can usually fix and re-test the same week.

Service and MOT due? Drop us your reg and preferred date — we'll come back the same day. Servicing page · MOT page · Contact.
